The Unofficial Guide to Altitude - Discussion

Optimal Perk Set Ups

I know these are the perk colors, but it just looks awful. Maybe use screenshots of perks instead of colored text?

Agree. At the very least remove the ||| separators and change the green to a different color, those look horrific. --Pieface 16:34, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Another note: Why do we have "Optimal Perk Setups" and right below that "Other Recommended Setups" -- essentially a repeat of the same info? --Slight 23 December 2010

Famous Players

Anyone have a good idea for how to use this section? If it's not transformed I fear it's just going to turn into a popularity contest and the guide might be better off without it.

--Pieface 18:06, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Seems like this has been discussed and is being reworked. --Pieface 21:20, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Any popularity contest like this is going to be determined by the person/people who write the section. This is evidenced by the "List your top 5" players threads that crop up on the forums. I'd prefer not to have this unless there was some way for all of us to identify the few "famous players" worth listing. --tgleaf
If a player is famous, they should be on the list. Just because nobodyhome created ladder doesn't mean he's famous... Maybe if it was reworded, like Players to Watch or Notable Players, etc. --Ajuk

Commands Section

I'm thinking the section on console commands might work well as a table that describes the command and the parameters that go along with it. Thoughts?

--Pieface 18:06, 14 December 2010 (UTC)

Looking at it now it would be a huge table. Maybe not such a good idea after all. --Pieface 21:21, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
No, I think the point of this Wiki is not to be all-encompassing, but rather to give brand new players (or those brand new to the forums) a leg up on understanding the basics. If you know how to join a server, chat, vote, and change controls/sounds/etc., you're probably set for a while. Just knowing that there are parameters I think is enough, but I'd be happy to entertain other viewpoints. --tgleaf

Common Altitude Knowledge

Lingo and Nicknames sections should be alphabetized --tgleaf

Closing Words

Any ideas for what this would contain? Are we thinking that the developers would add a quick soundbite? I'm not sure we need this as it isn't the only form of documentation for the game. The forums, for example, would be the next place a user should turn after reading through the Wiki. --tgleaf

This sounds like it would be the best route, having the developers give the closing words on the Guide would give the readers an idea of how the devs interact with the community. --Ajuk
